Which is the better tool for learning programming - flowcharts or pseudocode?

To learn programming you have to actually program. Both flowcharts and pseudocode can be good tools to help you out with that but it's difficult to say which one is better, it's hard to represent large programs with flowchart but flowcharts are also visual which, at least for me, allows you to get a better grasp of what's going on.
