Should I ask this boy out or not?

There's a bar man I like, I'm getting quite a good vibe from him so I feel fairly confident. But I don't really know, I literally going on the 'vibe'. But I don't really know how else I can get to know him otherwise? Is it a good idea to ask him out or not? My approach is don't make a big deal out of it that way whatever the answer is it should be a big deal. I've asked about this before but was suprised at the reaction I got to girl asking out guy! I wasn't sure if maybe its hugely emasculating? I know I'm attractive (obviously objective) and clearly I have an awesome personality but he doesn't know about that yet!
